07.16.2023 - the tetons
another morning in paradise. chasing the lewis river into the snake into jackson lake. but first, over the continental divide again, 7,988 feet. then downhill through the lewis river canyon.
just a short ride today, 20 miles to the exit, 8 mi on the john d. rockerfeller highway to the entrance of grand teton np, then 19 to coulter bay campground. in between, a stop at flagg campgound for the lodge's buffet breakfast.
there was a fire here a few years ago, i don't remember when, but the scars are still evident. what would john d. say?
so how long should one stay and look at a view. got the photograph, got the t-shirt, let's move on! next!
or should one sit down, cross legs and 'ommmm.' somewhere in between, no doubt. but where?
all that existentialism aside, the tetons are truly majestic.
so, today is a short day to drink this in, rest, eat dinner in the park's restaurant again. maybe just one beer tonight. then tomorrow climb over and out of the rockies.
